Set Up Restrictions On Amazon Prime Video

On Prime Video devices, you can set up restrictions to limit the content you can watch. Since the contents are based on Rating, setting up age restrictions allows you to access content as per the age group.

To assist in setting viewing restrictions on devices, ratings are combined into audiences with recommended viewing levels – General, Family, Teen, and Mature.

For setting up parental controls on these ratings, Amazon Prime Video follows the same guidelines as the Motion Picture Association of America and TV Parental Guidelines.  

To set up those restrictions, first, you need to find the parental controls setting. The steps to reach parental control settings are different for a PC or a MAC and an Android or an iOS.

To set up parental control restrictions on a PC or a MAC, follow the steps below:

After you have selected the Parental Controls settings, the remaining steps are the same for PC, MAC, iOS, and Android devices, which are mentioned below:

1. Select the “Viewing Restrictions.“
2. Select an age restriction. There are basically four: G, 7, 16, and 18. When you select a particular age restriction, Amazon Prime Video shows only the content appropriate for that age group and restricts the rest.
3. Then select the devices that you want the restrictions to apply to.
4. Finally, click on “Save” for the restriction setting to apply.

Once you have reached the Parental Controls setting, follow the steps mentioned below to set up a PIN on Amazon Prime Video:

1. Select the “Change Prime Video PIN” option.
2. Enter a PIN of your desire.
3. Finally, click on “Save“.

Note: Prime Video PIN only applies to the devices they were set up for.

The devices mentioned below have their own Parental Control settings, and you cannot set up parental controls for them from your Amazon Prime account.

• Fire Phones
• Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles
• Fire Tablets running FireOS 5.0 or older
• Fire TV devices

Use of Third-Party Parental Control apps

If you are concerned about what kind of content your kid watches on Amazon Prime, you can also use Third-Party parental control apps to keep track of their device activity.

You can use parental control apps like Net Nanny, Qustodio, Net Sanity, etc. These apps keep you updated about what your kids do on their devices. These apps also allow you to block apps like Amazon Prime if you find out that your kid is accessing inappropriate content on it.
